Sul Progetto
«Dopo aver letto il prompt ho cominciato a sfogliare gallerie e archivi bombardando la vista con immagini di leoni, giungle e rockstar. Piano piano è cominciata a venire fuori l’idea sotto forma di sketch. Partendo da quella ho sviluppato l’idea finale, nella quale ho giocato con tre colori principali (verde, giallo e magenta) che simboleggiano rispettivamente la natura, la magia benevola e il rock. Mentre lavoro sono solito ascoltare musica che, questa volta più che mai, è stata d’ispirazione per la realizzazione del disegno finale. Proprio per questo ho deciso di omaggiare diversi rocker utilizzando i loro tatuaggi su braccia e mani del leone, scommetto che i rocker più attenti riusciranno sicuramente a riconoscerli».
L'Artista
Gabriele M. L. Ferrara è un illustratore che vive e lavora a Milano. Appassionato sin da bambino di cultura pop, disegno e grafica, ha studiato alla Super Scuola di Arti Applicate e allo IED. Nelle sue illustrazioni ricorrono spesso le figure femminili, per lui fonte di ispirazione artistica e personale, e sono trattati temi di uguaglianza e parità. È co-fondatore di The Nissener, rivista fittizia che racconta la sua città natale.
About the Project
“After reading the prompt, I started scrolling through galleries and archives, bombarding my eyes with images of lions, jungles, and rock stars. Bit by bit, the idea began to take shape as a rough sketch. Starting from there, I developed the final concept, playing with three main colors (green, yellow, and magenta), representing nature, benevolent magic, and rock music, respectively. I usually listen to music while I work, but this time, more than ever, it directly inspired the final piece. That’s why I decided to pay tribute to several iconic rockers by transferring their tattoos onto the lion’s arms and hands: I bet sharp-eyed rock fans will definitely recognize them.”
The Artist
Gabriele M. L. Ferrara is an illustrator living and working in Milan. Passionate about pop culture, drawing, and graphic design since childhood, he studied at the Super Scuola di Arti Applicate and IED. Female figures are a recurring theme in his illustrations, serving as a source of both personal and artistic inspiration, while his work frequently addresses topics of equality and social justice. He is the co-founder of The Nissener, a fictional magazine dedicated to his hometown.
