About the Project
“AI is like a dear, analytical friend, someone you love to bits, but who’s also a massive pain in the ass. The kind of person who, when you go out for pizza, insists on splitting the bill down to the exact cent, right down to the tiny copper coins. It’s a brilliant mind capable only of merging existing things—which might look like a creative process on the surface, but is really just a mundane exercise that appears mind-blowing simply because it operates on millions of data points. What I know for sure is that creativity is a human skill, and lateral thinking belongs to us, not machines. Edward de Bono theorized extensively about this, and today I feel confident saying that completing his vision requires one secret ingredient: soul. Tackling the challenge proposed by Good Omens forced me to confront my mind’s outright rejection of ChatGPT’s suggestions. The output of those five prompts was a haphazard mess of senseless directions that couldn’t even manage to be interesting in an Exquisite Corpse sort of way. My approach was decidedly straightforward, a return to life and irony, perhaps because the main ingredient missing was, precisely, soul.”
